TFF’s Mental Health Services offers individual therapy for child survivors between the ages of 3 and 18, returning clients between the ages of 18-24, and a Caretaker Support Group for their parents/caregivers.

WHO WE ARE

TFF Staff Therapists and contracted therapists are licensed, insured, and trained to use a toolbox of evidence-based treatment models.

WHAT SERVICES WE OFFER

  • Regularly-scheduled individual therapy for child survivors between the ages of 3 and 18, and returning clients between the ages of 18 and 24.
  • Caretaker Support Group for parents/caregivers.

WHERE SERVICES ARE HELD

  • In-person sessions at The Firecracker Foundation. 
  • In-person sessions in the safety and security of a contracted therapist’s existing practice location. 
  • Online telehealth sessions via secured platforms, Simple Practice or Zoom.

MINORS SEEKING MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

If you are 14 – 17 years old, you may request mental health services without parental/guardian consent or knowledge, under Michigan law. Without parent/caregiver consent/knowledge, you may receive:

  • Up to 12 sessions or 4 months of therapy.
  • After 12 visits, parent/caregiver permission is required to continue.

HOW TO GET STARTED?

    • Include your name, the name + age(s) of the child(ren), phone number + best times to call.
  • A TFF Therapist will contact you within 3-5 business days to let you know if you are eligible.
  • If you are eligible:
    • You/Your child will be matched with a TFF Staff Therapist, contracted Therapist, or a Master of Social Work Intern (MSW).
    • Your Therapist will contact you to schedule an intake appointment (via phone).
    • After the intake appointment, your Therapist will send forms that must be completed + submitted prior to the first therapy session.
  • If you are not eligible: A TFF Therapist will share community resources and referrals. [OR: will connect you with other people in the community who can help you with your specific needs.]

COST

Service providers and legal guardians can refer children who do not have medical insurance, cannot afford their copay, or are ineligible for therapeutic services through other community programs.

As of 2023, all clients will be charged an Annual Membership Fee of $25 to participate in TFF’s programs. Membership fees can be paid in partial payments with the full amount due within 90 days of a client’s first session. All other services are fee-based and offered on a sliding scale.
