Therapists facilitate individual therapy sessions for child survivors between the ages of 3 and 17 and caretaker support group sessions for their parents and guardians. Sessions are held either at The Firecracker Foundation or in the safety and security of a contracted therapist’s existing practice location. Each client participates in a clinical assessment that will help their therapist develop a treatment plan that may include:
- Weekly individual therapy sessions
- Trauma-focused therapeutic groups for children, adolescents, and families
- Play therapy for children ages 3 – 18 as appropriate
- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for children and adolescents when appropriate
- Caretaker support group sessions
Firecracker therapists are licensed, insured, and trained in evidence-based treatment models, such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Somatic Experiencing Trauma Therapy, Sensorimotor Therapy, and Play Therapy. Once a therapist is successfully matched with a client, they are committed to that beneficiary until the close of their initial treatment plan.
Service providers and legal guardians can refer a child who does not have medical insurance, cannot afford their copay or is ineligible for therapeutic services through other community programs.
