Your community’s generosity has made it possible for The Firecracker Foundation to provide consistent, quality therapy to children, and their families, who have experienced sexual trauma.

Therapists facilitate individual therapy sessions for child survivors between the ages of 3 and 17 and caretaker support group sessions for their parents and guardians. Sessions are held either at The Firecracker Foundation or in the safety and security of a contracted therapist’s existing practice location. Each client participates in a clinical assessment that will help their therapist develop a treatment plan that may include:

  • Weekly individual therapy sessions
  • Trauma-focused therapeutic groups for children, adolescents, and families
  • Play therapy for children ages 3 – 18 as appropriate
  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for children and adolescents when appropriate
  • Caretaker support group sessions

Firecracker therapists are licensed, insured, and trained in evidence-based treatment models, such as Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Somatic Experiencing Trauma Therapy, Sensorimotor Therapy, and Play Therapy. Once a therapist is successfully matched with a client, they are committed to that beneficiary until the close of their initial treatment plan.

Service providers and legal guardians can refer a child who does not have medical insurance, cannot afford their copay or is ineligible for therapeutic services through other community programs.
