Artist: Mary Molnar
Survivor: Meg Weller
Medium: Wood door, Paper, Glass, Metal, Found Vintage Motel Keys, Black and White digital photographic prints, 79 x 32
Artist’s Statement: This multi-media piece is an allegorical representation of my memory of childhood sexual abuse, during the summer of 1985, and my 30+ year healing journey. Components of dreams are visually recreated using the same image multiple times. Vintage 70’s motel keys, found over 20 years ago in an abandoned shed, represent violation.
A multiple image black and white self-portrait unfurls from a frozen swamp with a sense of calm and balance, like the healing properties of a Lady Slipper.
