I spent the Summer Shutdown doing things that brin I spent the Summer Shutdown doing things that bring me joy, ground me, make me laugh, and fill my cup. I bought a new lipstick, put on a fancy dress that made me feel like a princess, enjoyed my favorite snacks as I watched my son's football practices, went golfing & fishing with my family, and spent many mornings in solitude with a cup of coffee. I was reminded that it is truly the little things that refuel me. — Jasmine Salmon

Image Description 1: Pictured is a Black family of a young boy wearing a red shirt & black hat, a woman wearing a grey tank top and sunglasses and a man wearing a black collared shirt, black hat, and sunglasses. They are all leaning in and smiling into the camera while sitting in a golf cart.

Image Description 2: Pictured is a Black dad and his son sitting on a stone ledge each holding a fishing pole and wearing fishing hats with their backs toward the camera. The Father is wearing a navy Bass Pro Shop shirt while the son is wearing a neon green shirt. In the distance of the photo a beautiful panorama view of the lake and trees surrounding the lake can be seen.
This Summer Shutdown I focused on healing habits—a new way to structure my days, a delightful rekindling of my love for fiction books, and continuing to bring home a bouquet from @magnolia_ave_farm each week. I'm so grateful I was also able to pause all social media (personal and professional) as this truly helped me…stop and smell the flowers 🌼 — Ash Meadow

Image Description: Centered in the photo is a bouquet of flowers held in a glass jar on the marbled surface of a windowsill. The bouquet includes flowers in 2 shades each of pink and purple, golden yellow, and white, with summer green stems and leaves. There is a stained glass butterfly with similar colors resting against the wall of the windowsill.

This quote is from a session featuring @InOurNames Network's youth-led participatory research, documenting the epidemic of sexual violence by police stationed in and around schools. This epidemic disproportionately impacts Black women, girls, trans and gender nonconforming people—and it is one of many reasons why we at The Firecracker Foundation advocate for #PoliceFreeSchools.

The style of research In Our Names Network is using, and this quote from the session, remind me that *how* we do something is an important part of the results we see and create. — Ash Meadow
